The translucent white glass when held up to a light gives off a light blue hue. The pattern was an elaborate design of lacy swirls, finely detailed very feminine, and created from a mold-etched pattern. The glassware is thinner than most made at this time period. American Sweetheart was also referred to as the R-pattern.
