ARMBAND WW2 JAPANESE ARMY 57th SHINBU TAI SPECIAL ATTACK GROUP Reproduction.100% Cotton cloth with cotton thread. Armbands have been given an aged look, to them.
On 25 May, 1945 ten pilot's of the 57th Shinbu Tai Japanese Army Special Attack Group, took off (from Miyakonojo East Airfield) in their Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate "Frank" Fighters. Their's was a one-way mission. The Shinbu Tai units were the Army equivalent of the Navy Kamakaze units. Their targets would be Allied Ships, just west of Okinawa. Hundreds of one-way sorte's, using all kinds of Japanese Army aircraft were flown, in the desperate fight to save Okinawa from falling into the hands of the Allies. Each Pilot had the symbol of the 57th Shinbu Tai painted on the tail of his airplane. The same image also appeared on Armbands that the Pilots wore on their left sleeve. I am offering collectors a chance to purchase a vintage looking, reproduction copy of this Armband.
