    Bitter Root
    Acorus Calamus
This root is often chewed by singers to keep their voices strong. It is at times chewed for sore throats and toothaches. There are other ailments that the Native Americans and others have used bitter root for.
    Bitterroot
    is a small, low
    plant
with a pink to white flower. It is the state flower of
    Montana
    .
The plant grows on gravelly to heavy, usually dry soil, in
    scablands
or foothills areas. It is found on
    sagebrush
plains to the lower mountains, in western and south central
    Montana
. It ranges in the north from
    British Columbia
    to southern
    California
, and on the east side of the
    Cascade Range
    to
    Colorado
    and
    Arizona
    .
The roots were consumed by local tribes such as the
    Shoshone
    and the
    Flathead Indians
    as an infrequent delicacy.
    The
    Lemhi Shoshone
believed the small red core found in the upper taproot had special powers, notably being able to stop a
    bear
    attack.
Use of roots and other botanicals are strictly up to the buyer and what their use is.

Since the dawn of times plants have been our sacred connection to our mother earth. Plants feed, cure, and shelter us; and legends abound of the power of chosen plants to heal and protect the wise. Native traditions relate that wherever sage and cedar are used, no evil influences may enter.
To “smudge” is to purify with smoke from certain sacred herbs. The sacred ritual of purifying with smoke comes from native peoples in both North and
    South America
    . In
    North America
the smoke is created by burning sacred herbs such as sage, cedar, sweet grass and juniper. Smoke may be used to purify the body, spirit, pet, home, office and healing rooms, any space or item in your world
This smudge stick is 100% natural aromatic botanicals. The herbs were gathered in an ecologically sound and respectful way. The plants are not harmed and nothing is wasted. These bundles are made for you as tools of empowerment! Enjoy!
