    Description

This is an example of an
    Early
Japanese Artillery Short Sword Model 1886. It is mounted with a blade that measures 21 inches in length which although is a bit surface stained, does remain in good condition with nice, clear markings still present which translate to "TOKYO ARTILLERY ARSENAL" as well as "Meiji 19" which translates to "1886". The blackened steel fittings are crudely cast framing wooden grips that remain healthy and tight in their condition. The leather scabbard is very nice with the leather only slightly stiff but the back seam and staples all tightly secure to the coordinating blackened steel crude fittings. Overall measuring 26 3/8 inches in length.  TO SEE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS PLEASE SCROLL DOWN.
