Description
Here is a fun Edison Blue Amberol cylinder, #4954, the well known "The Prisoner's Song", performed by tenor Vernon Dalhart, with Murray Kellner on violin and Frank Ferera on guitar. This was recorded on October 16, 1924, and Edison released the cylinder in March 1925. Mr. Dalhart recorded this song for every American record company that would pay him, and Victor 10 inch #19427 is believed to be one of the biggest selling records of the 1920's. This is a particularly nice version, Mr. Dalhart sings the sad lyrics with a lot of emotion, you will enjoy it. The cylinder plays well with moderate surface noise.
